Joe Henderson: Donald Trump was right about Marco Rubio

in 2017/Top Headlines by

I can’t believe I am saying this, but Donald Trump was right – at least about Marco Rubio. He is “Little Marco.” He is terrified in the face of potential retaliation from Trump’s legion of loon if he publicly abandons the Republican nominee for president. In a statement released Tuesday, Rubio continued trying to have it both ways. “I have consistently rejected his offensive rhetoric and behavior. I disagree with him on many things, but I disagree with his opponent on…

With Patrick Murphy’s campaign, has the DSCC lost their minds?

in Peter/Top Headlines by

Up until a few weeks ago, one could argue that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had been doing a reasonably good job in the Sunshine State. One could even make the point that in a presidential year (one most likely to bring a D pickup) the DSCC had positioned themselves pretty well to take back Marco Rubio’s seat. It began with a few elbows to the side of Alan Grayson’s head and continued with the strong centrist positioning of Patrick…

Marco Rubio stands by his man, says position on Donald Trump ‘has not changed’

in Statewide by

Marco Rubio is standing by his party’s presidential nominee, saying he does not want Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States. Rubio broke his silence Tuesday after many wondered whether the Miami Republican would revoke his support of Donald Trump after video surfaced of Trump making lewd comments about women. The Washington Post and NBC News on Friday released a 2005 video in which Trump describes trying to have sex with a married woman. He also…

Poll: Marco Rubio ‘appears to be on his way to re-election’

in 2017/Top Headlines by

The University of North Florida Public Opinion Research Lab’s newest poll shows Marco Rubio leading Patrick Murphy by seven points. The two-way survey puts Rubio over Murphy 48 to 41 percent, with 10 percent undecided, and one percent supporting “someone else.” “Rubio is holding a solid seven-point lead and appears to be on his way to re-election,” said Dr. Michael Binder, faculty director of the Public Opinion Research Laboratory. “Rubio is seeing support from men, (52-38) but also has a slim lead among women as well (44-43).”…

Mitch Perry Report for 10.11.12 — Bill Clinton comes back to Tampa Bay

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Bill Clinton comes to Pinellas County tonight, after two earlier scheduled events in Palm Beach County and Fort Myers, and the question is: will he make news? The 42nd president of the United States got himself and his wife’s campaign into all types of hot water when he “blasted” the Affordable Care Act last week, though a closer look at his words show his stance isn’t radically different than what Hillary Clinton has been saying on the stump — though certainly not as bluntly. “The current…

Marco Rubio and Patrick Murphy both go up with new Spanish language ads

in 2017 by

The intense fight to win the Latino vote in the Florida Senate election was again put into sharp focus Monday, when the campaigns of both Marco Rubio and Patrick Murphy announced new Spanish-language television ads. Rubio’s ad — his fourth Spanish-language ad of the campaign — takes several shots at Murphy, the 33-year-old Democratic representative from Jupiter running statewide for the first time. It’s called, “Me Conoce.” “Patrick Murphy is one of the most inefficient members of Congress,” says the narrator.…

Patrick Murphy accuses Marco Rubio of ‘cowardice’ for not standing up to Donald Trump

in 2017 by

Marco Rubio issued a tweet Friday night condemning Donald Trump for his sexually lewd comments that surfaced from a 2005 video, but that’s not good enough for Patrick Murphy, his Democratic opponent in next month’s U.S. Senate race in Florida. “Florida women and families deserve better than a tweet,” Murphy said on a conference call Monday morning. “We’ve seen Marco Rubio play this game before, through the months of Donald Trump demonizing immigrants and Muslims, attacking a Gold Star family, or lodging racist or misogynist attacks, Marco Rubio…
