NRSC ‘confident’ GOP will hold on to Florida Senate seat in 2016

in 2017/Top Headlines by

Earlier this week, POLITICO speculated that the Democrats have a “narrow” path to recapture the U.S. Senate next year, which appears to be a much friendlier year in terms of victories compared to 2014 (when they lost nine seats) or 2018, when they must defend seats in red states like Montana, North Dakota and West Virginia. One the biggest states up for grabs at this early juncture is Florida, where incumbent Marco Rubio will not be on the ballot. The field is still being…

Alan Grayson to enter race for Marco Rubio’s seat

in 2017/Top Headlines by

U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, an unapologetically outspoken critic of Republicans who calls himself a congressman with guts, will enter the race to replace Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, a close friend and major Democratic Party donor said Wednesday. Trial lawyer John Morgan said he exchanged a series of emails with Grayson in which the congressman confirmed he is going to seek the seat Rubio is giving up to run for president and asked for Morgan’s help with the campaign. Analyzing the latest Gravis Marketing poll: Between half and a full shaker of salt

in 2017/Top Headlines by

The recently released Gravis Marketing poll of the Florida Presidential Preference Primaries and the U.S. Senate races is truly confounding. On one hand, it appears thorough and reasonably well-conceived. On the other, it has some very serious problems that all but make the poll useless and even misleading. This…

If liberal U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson was counting on progressive backing for a possible Senate bid, ethical concerns cost him at least one important local supporter. Today, state Sen. Eleanor Sobel endorsed U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy‘s bid for the U.S. Senate, citing the latest revelations about Grayson as an important tipping point in her decision. “I cannot, in good conscience, sit back and watch Alan Grayson continue embarrassing my party and my state,” said Sobel. “His profane tirades were one thing, but…

Red flag alert? Alan Grayson wants Rand Paul to be his next president

in 2017/Top Headlines by

Florida progressives may have been seeing red Monday morning. When a local Sunday morning cable news show asked liberal U.S. Rep. (and possible Senate candidate) Alan Grayson what he thought about the GOP presidential field, the Orlando Democrat made a surprising endorsement. Grayson wants Republican Rand Paul to be his next president. “I look at the Republican field and I can’t see a single person in that field, with the possible exception of Rand Paul, who I actually want to be my president,” Grayson told host Ybeth Bruzual…
