After video, FSU dismisses quarterback De’Andre Johson

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The images were too disturbing to live with. The vision was just too harsh to overcome. And so, hours after a disturbing video was released of a barroom incident, Florida State University immediately dismissed freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson from its football team. Johnson, who at 19 was clearly too young to drink, was involved in an argument and punched a woman. He faced a misdemeanor battery charge. Johnson was not considered a serious challenger for the quarterback job during the…

Perhaps that is why both programs are interested in buying used. Anymore, it’s a trend in college football, to find a one-year transfer who can help a program get over the hump. That’s why FSU has imported former Notre Dame…

Glennon tries to solidify role with the Bucs

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The other guy owns the team. Mike Glennon. All he owned was the moment. For Glennon, that was enough. The other guy is in charge of the future. He is the one in the commercials, the one with the huge contract, the one that everyone is talking about. Glennon? He’s the guy in the trade rumors. He’s the holdover from the Greg Schiano era. He’s yesterday’s news. Still, a team needs more than one quarterback, which leads us to Glennon…

Could Josh McCown be Bucs’ latest regret?

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The first thing you do is marvel at the mismatch. A bad quarterback, a bad team. We have seen what that combination can do. Josh McCown was terrible last year, winning only one game, struggling mightily to overcome an offense that was stuck in place. The Cleveland Browns were terrible. Not as bad as the Tampa Bay Bucs – no one was – but it was another year in which no playoff tickets were printed. This couldn’t amount to anything,…
