Red State blog: Charlie Crist runs for cover

in Statewide by

This campaign is still in its infancy, and anyone who knows anything about politics would understand that 14 months in politics is an eternity. So let’s look at the supposed “grand slam” of endorsements Governor Charlie Crist has scooped up. So now every damn debate is going to be a three-way roogoodoo. And doesn’t this further damage Marco Rubio’s chances, since Smith is likely to attract some of the wingnuts Rubio was hoping to mobilize?

From Andrew Pavelyev’s New Majority Blog: “Are conservatives nuts? I keep hearing wild enthusiasm about Marco Rubio’s challenge to Charlie Crist. But why make the perfect the enemy of the good? Next November could be a turning point for the future of our Party – but only if we unite and take advantage of this critical opportunity. That means holding the Democrats accountable for their records, providing real solutions, reaching out to new constituencies, and fielding candidates who…

Huff Post: GOP’s other Latino problem

in Statewide by

From Chris Weigant: I wrote yesterday about the political conundrum Republicans (especially those in the Senate who actually get to vote on her confirmation) find themselves in over Sotomayor. But there’s another struggle within the party over a Latino candidate with more profound overtones for the party as a whole, down in the race for a Senate seat in Florida. It seems these days, Republicans just can’t attempt to do anything right without landing themselves in hot water as a…
