Waterfront Parks Centennial celebration Thursday

City Council has declared 2010 to be the Waterfront Parks Centennial Year and St. Petersburg Preservation is sponsoring a number of fun and free events to celebrate the centennial. The second in a series entitled “Perspectives on the Parks” includes a performance by renown singer Sharon Scott followed by a panel discussion looking back at the history of segregation in St. Petersburg and how it affected who could use the waterfront parks.  The panel, moderated by former Mayor Rick Baker, includes…

The series of anniversary fundraising celebrations culminates with the 620 Social Justice Pioneers Award Gala to be held at the Mickett/Stackhouse studios at 6:20 pm.
