Deveron Gibbons is still an SOB and here are 10 reasons why he won’t run, much less win, in 2013

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

The fallout from St. Petersburg Times reporter Michael Van Sickler’s profile of Jeff Copeland, a prominent political organizer in the African American community, continues even after the article’s first publication. Beginning on Wednesday and through this weekend, several sources close to both Copeland and former mayoral candidate Deveron Gibbons have told me that Gibbons is bragging that he was a significant off-the-record source to Van Sickler and is the reason why the article was published. While I doubt Gibbons was…

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

The St. Petersburg Times editorial board is urging Governor Charlie Crist to not re-appoint Deveron Gibbons to the Board of Trustees at St. Petersburg College.  An excerpt: The selection of Tallahassee Community College president Bill Law this week as the new president for St. Petersburg College was predictable, safe and uninspiring. Did Rick Baker, Deveron Gibbons square off at Charlie Crist’s event on Saturday?

in Statewide/The Bay and the 'Burg by

Several sources have called to tell me of an, um, “heated discussion” this past weekened at Charlie Crist’s event at Ovation between former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker and St. Petersburg College Board of Trustees member Deveron Gibbons. According to one account, Baker approached Gibbons and said something to the effect, ‘Are you happy you got your revenge?’ From there, Baker attempted to make nice with Gibbons, but the former mayoral candidate would have none of it, raising his voice…
