Ed Montanari pulls down record-breaking fundraising numbers

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

St. Pete City Council candidate Ed Montanari has raised more than $45,000, according to sources close to his campaign. The total so far comes from more than 175 contributors. Montanari has not posted First Quarter treasurer reports, but if the numbers reported to SaintPetersblog are accurate, it puts Montanari at already unprecedented fundraising levels and he still has about a month before reporting figures to the City Clerk. in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

After nearly five hours of back and forth and sometimes in a circle debate, St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman has walked away from a City Council workshop with one more vote in favor of an agreement to let the Tampa Bay Rays look at stadium sites outside of St. Pete in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The plan creates a special taxing district for areas of South St. Pete including two of the city’s poorest neighborhoods – Child’s Park and Midtown. It establishes tax-increment financing for the area to pay for things less typical than in other TIF districts. Most notably, the plan includes financing for affordable housing rather than just beautification projects like streetscaping. The boundaries of the newly…
