What took so long to give Michael Phelps and the rest of the U.S. 4×100 medley relay their gold medals?
Cody Miller, who swam the breastroke leg, said he was feeling lightheaded after the race. He needed a little time to recover.
Finally, the relay swimmers emerged. Michael Phelps, Miller, Nathan Adrian and Ryan Murphy got gold draped around their necks. The delay was soon forgotten. As a misty-eyed Phelps took a flag from his family, the crowd roared and watched him take his victory lap around the pool.
