Drew Smyly capped off a good spring training Wednesday, throwing four shutout innings as the Rays moved to 12-11.
Smyly struck out seven, walked one and allowed no hits in running his record to 3-1 with the victory.
Mikie Mahtook hit a two-run homer and Brad Miller hit a solo shot and a double as the Rays built a 4-0 lead. Enny Romero gave up three runs in the seventh. Romero gave up three of the four hits allowed by Tampa Bay.
The Rays open their regular season Sunday against the Blue Jays.
