Tampa Bay’s Matt Moore pitches well again, looks to next year

in Sports/Top Headlines by

If this was the end for Matt Moore โ€“ and Moore hopes that it was not โ€“ then he finished his 2015 season on a good note.

Moore pitched a strong game for the third straight outing as the Rays beat the Florida Marlins, 4-2. Moore surrendered only one run over seven innings, and the Rays’ late homers sealed the victory.

Mikie Mahtook hit a homer to tie the game at 2, and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera hit a two-run homer for the lead. Cabrera, unsigned for next season, makes shortstop one of the biggest questions for the Rays.

Alex Colome, pitching in relief, got the victory. Brad Boxberger had his 39th save.

The Rays, in their final homestand of the year, will look to Jake Odorizzi to pitch tonight.
