After the whole Chris Ingram incident, it’s nice to read a real journalist’s take on “young gun” Michael Ciftci (my friend and client):
“One thing you pick up on right away is that some of the newer faces have a passion to change the way things are done. You wonder if they understand that in Tampa the mayor runs the show and the city council fills in the blanks.
But you do appreciate the fire. I think the one I liked most was Michael Ciftci who is running for a citywide District 3 seat.
He’s one of the young guns. He spoke with that sincere emotion of an evangelist right before he hands out the collection plate.
The truth is that if Ciftci were to win he would be lucky to influence a council vote on handing out a liquor license near a day-care center.
But you want that flame. You want that determination to get in there and make a difference.”
