Tea Partiers to ‘storm’ Capitol Hill next week

From Chris Good: Capitol Hill will get another taste of tea partiers later this month.

The Dick-Armey-led group FreedomWorks, which has developed relationships with the tea party movement and helped organize the meeting of activists in DC, is organizing a protest of “ObamaCare 2.0” at the House office buildings March 16, according to the event’s page at the FreedomWorks website. The rally is scheduled to last from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with protesters meeting at the Cannon building and “storming all three.”

The group is planning for activists to bus in, providing information on District bus drop-offs and permits previously given out for the Glenn-Beck-inspired 9.12 march on Washington last September.

The group’s Federal and State Campaigns Director Brendan Steinhauser is listed as an organizer on the website and FreedomWorks has worked with at least one leader of a local tea party group on the event.

Tea Partiers came to the Capitol in force in November for a rally Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) helped facilitate, which drew an estimated 10,000 activists and much post-rally criticism, mostly for the offensive signs that turned up comparing Democratic health reforms to the Holocaust and depicting President Obama as the Joker.
