St. Pete Beach’s TradeWinds Island Resorts are all set to make a hefty workforce investment in 2016.

Come January, the company – which also runs the Island Grand and Guy Harvey Outpost – will be looking to fill more than 100 full and part-time positions at each of its beachfront resorts.

The hiring will be for more than 40 job titles, including security guards, activities counselors, stewards, beach attendants, housekeepers, cooks, and reservations agents.

In total, the resorts are investing more than $2.4 million into current and new employees next year. According to a recent news release, the goal is to have all nongratuity based positions start at $10 per hour, which would make TradeWinds one of the highest-paying employers on Pinellas beaches.

“Much of our guest experience is based on the personal interaction they have with our staff,” said Keith Overton, TradeWinds’ president. “So it is in our best interest to provide the best possible work environment for our team.”

Overton added: “We’re willing to pay higher wages and invest in this recruiting effort to find, hire and retain the best people out there.”

TradeWinds’ Tampa Bay marketing campaign for the move began Monday. Television, billboard and radio ads feature current TradeWinds employees telling listeners and watchers why they love their job.

“Nearly 20 percent of our employees have been with us for 10 or more years, including myself,” said Travis Johnson, vice president of marketing for TradeWinds. “We decided that those employees should be the face of the campaign – real people sharing real life experiences. No actors needed.”

Job descriptions and employment applications will be available online by Jan. 1 at ILoveMyJobBecause.com. A job fair will also be held at TradeWinds on Jan. 13 and 14.
