Two new polls suggest it’s an opportune time for Charlie Crist to become a Democrat

It’s time, Charlie.

It’s time to just pull off the Band-aid as quickly as possible.

It’s time to visit the local Supervisor of Elections office and switch to the Democratic Party.

Like pulling off a Band-aid, switching to the Democratic Party may sting a bit at first, but you’ll find relief soon thereafter.

In fact, two new polls suggest the time is ripe for Crist to make the switch.

New polling numbers from Quinnipiac indicate that, while Crist is no longer the universally popular figure he was before lurching to the left, Florida Democrats are ready to embrace him.

“If Charlie Crist is contemplating a political comeback, he is neither in great or terrible shape.  Overall voters are split on whether they view him favorably or unfavorably,” pollster Peter Brown said.

Crist’s favorability rating is split evenly at 40 – 40 percent, but, according to Brown, “he would enter a primary with almost four times as many party members seeing him favorably as unfavorably.”

The Quinnipiac numbers come on top of fresh data from Public Policy Polling which shows that Crist’s numbers with Democrats are up from 44 – 33 percent to 55 – 22 percent. Forty-eight percent of voters think he should complete the switch and become a Democrat to 21% who think he should not and that sentiment is held among Democrats (61 -11 percent) and Republicans (40 – 33 percent) alike.

What do all of these numbers really mean?

It’s time, Charlie. It’s time.
