USA Today report: George Zimmerman taken into custody in gun incident

Police in a central Florida town say George Zimmerman was taken into custody Monday after his estranged wife reported that he was allegedly threatening her and her father with a gun.

Last week, his wife, Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce.

CNN quotes police as saying that Zimmerman is in “investigative custody.”

Orlando TV station WKMG reports that Shellie Zimmerman’s parents, David and Machelle Dean, live at the home in Lake Mary.

WKMG’s SKY 6 helicopter of the scene shows at least a half-dozen police squad cars outside the house.

Zimmerman has been pulled over twice for speeding since his acquittal in the killing of a black unarmed teenager, Trayvon Martin.
