Perhaps the worst time to make a typo is when a university is trying to come across as smart.
Ask the University of South Florida, which didn’t do nearly enough research on the proper way to spell to “research” as it was trying to gain favor with the Big 12.
USF, one of several schools trying to curry favor if the league expands, talked about its academics and and its Top 25 “reasearch” productivity in promotional material sent to the Big 12. Well, oops. The school has already sent out a corrected version.
For the record, USF got the other words correct in its document, but no one seems to want to give the school credit for that.
The Big 12 is expected to choose between Houston, BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado State, UCF, USF, UConn and others if it indeed decides to expand.
