Calling all volunteers seeking to make St. Petersburg even more beautiful! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 26, at 8:30 am. It’s time for the fall clean up of Williams Park, located between First and Second Avenues North and Third and Fourth Streets North, in the center of downtown St. Petersburg.

This year’s volunteer workday will be part of the citywide CareFest 2009 event. We will be joined by Souls Harvest Fellowship Church so, working with partners, the work should go even faster than at similar workdays in spring 2009.

All volunteers have been invited to a kick-off and celebration to be held at Dell Holmes Park, 2741 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, starting at 7 a.m. on September 26. Breakfast and an opportunity for pictures with Mayor Baker are on the menu. Our Friends of Williams Park volunteers group at the breakfast event is #253 Williams Park. If you plan to participate in the workday and wish to attend the Dell Holmes Park celebration, call 727-898-8851 by September 24.

If you cannot attend the 7 a.m. event, plan to meet at 8:30 a.m. in Williams Park by the fountain to rake and clean out flowerbeds, mulch around trees and plant flowers. All supplies and equipment for volunteer workdays in the City’s parks are furnished by the Parks Department.
