One outcome is certain in Senate District 17: with Democrat Wes Johnson now out of the race, the winner of Tuesday’s GOP primary will be the next State Senator from this seat based in Hillsborough and Pasco counties.

Now, another outcome looks increasingly certain: that John Legg will be the winner on Tuesday. And now that Legg’s victory looks inevitable, the contributions from those eager to jump on the bandwagon are stacking up.

Legg, a House member from Pasco County, collected $73,200 during the fundraising period covering July 21 to August 9, bringing his overall total to $266,372. Wallace, a former House member from Tampa, collected $14,040 and has a total of $38,240. A third Republican in the race, John Korsak of Tampa, raised just $550 during the period and has a total of $17,050.
