Early voting kicks off tomorrow in Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County voters can get a jump on the polls this election beginning tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. Early voting will be open at 15 locations throughout the county until 7 p.m. for 11 days. The last day to vote early is November 2. Election Day is November 4. Voters in Hillsborough can vote at any location during early voting. Survey shows Floridians aren’t down for new carbon emission regulations

New data released today by the Partnership for a Better Energy Future shows that Floridians may not be too keen on proposed regulations of carbon emissions. A poll conducted among 1,127 likely Florida voters by Paragon Insights shows 46% of respondents opposing President Barack Obama’s Clean Power Plan while only 43% support it. “The data released today make it abundantly clear that regulators in Washington are completely out of touch with what the rest of America wants,” said National Association…

Pre-dawn robo-call “for” Kathleen Peters was result of “caller ID spoof”

The mystery behind a pre-dawn series of robo calls asking voters to support state Rep. Kathleen Peters has been solved. Sort of. The Tampa Bay Times reports the number was traced back to Barbara Homer, a 53-year-old Clearwater resident, but she’s the victim, not the perpetrator. Homer’s phone information was pilfered through what officials call “caller ID spoofing.” Her number was then used to carry out a number of calls over several weeks. St. Pete proposes “Ban the Box” policy and $12.50 minimum wage

St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman is on a roll trying to improve economic conditions for some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. Today he announced another effort, but this time one that could benefit the entire city.
