Seminoles lose Francois for the season

Florida State sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois has been lost for the season after suffering an injury near the end of Saturday night’s 24-7 loss to Alabama. The Tallahassee Democrat reports Francois tore the patella tendon in his left knee and will undergo surgery as early as Tuesday. Seminoles players, coaches and fans feared the worst after Francois was carted off the field late in the game after being sacked from behind. He was clutching his knee and left the field…

While the Chicago White Sox are going nowhere this year, Lucas Giolito is providing a bit of hope for their rebuilding project. Giolito struck out 10 in seven sharp innings, Jose Abreu homered in his return to the lineup and the White Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2 on Sunday.

Among the most disappointing, but expected, cuts was 2017 fifth-round selection Jeremy McNichols. Officials push deadline for disclosing finances

Seven state lawmakers were among more than 600 state and local officials and employees testing a two-month grace period to file personal financial disclosure forms. Fines of $25 a day start to be imposed Saturday for those who don’t file or get their annual reports in the mail and postmarked Friday. Officials faced an initial July 3 deadline but were given until Sept. 1 to comply.
