Saint Petersburg Police said one of two Gibbs High School students, one of which is the son of Deveron Gibbons, were arrested on Friday after police said they found drugs, money and a gun in the students’ lockers, reports Kameel Stanley of Tampa Bay Times.
Police spokesman Bill Proffitt said his agency got a tip about the two teenagers.
“We went to the school, found the kids and found the stuff in their lockers,” Proffitt said.
Gibbons’ son was in possession of the gun, police said. The other boy had the money and drugs, which included crack cocaine and hydromorphone, police said.
It would be easy to say that the apple doesn’t far too far from the tree, but Deveron has never been caught doing anything like this.
Then again, there was the time Gibbons was asked on the campaign trail whether he’d be a good role model for city youths considering that he had two children out of wedlock. Gibbons responded that his children are well cared for, adding “just because I don’t live in their household doesn’t mean they’re destined to fail.”
