The Florida Gators are attempting to move on behind a new quarterback.
With quarterback Luke Del Rio out after injuring a knee against North Texas, the Gators will turn to transfer Austin Appleby to take on rival Tennessee.
Appleby, a more mobile quarterback than Del Rio. On the other hand, he is more prone to turnovers. In 17 games at Purdue, Appleby threw 19 interceptions.
A Tennessee fan has started a fund for Appleby’s “funeral.” Fairly amusing, until you remember Florida has an 11-game winning streak.
Del Rio had played well before being injured.
“He’s got a bum leg,” said Florida coach Jim McElwain. “He should be back sometime. I don’t know when. I’m not going to rush him back. I feel horrible for him, especially ow it happened.”
