Today local businessman, and former U.S. Army Officer, Jeff Brandes announced his candidacy for State House District 52, challenging incumbent Democrat Representative Bill Heller.–As his motivation for running, Brandes cited the need for a representative with real world business experience, and a proven record of getting results, to help jump- start Florida’s economy.–“I am on a mission…to get Florida moving again,” Brandes said. “Having served in the military and worked in our family business I believe I have the ability to make that happen.”–Jeff Brandes, the grandson of local businessman Linton N. Tibbetts is responsible for overseeing real estate investments for the Tibbetts family. The family formerly owned Cox Lumber, which was sold to HD Supply in 2006. Brandes, a licensed real estate broker and Certified Property Manager, began working for the family business after returning from Iraq in 2004 where he served as a U.S. Army Officer leading over 75 convoys as platoon leader throughout various regions of Iraq.–A lifelong native of St. Petersburg, Brandes lives in Northeast St. Petersburg with his wife Natalie and their daughter Charlotte. A graduate of Leadership St. Pete, Mr. Brandes is also involved with various local boards including Bay Cities Bank, Christian Legacy Foundation, the Haines City Economic Development Council and First Night of St. Petersburg.
