Leaving the Detroit Hotel, the tour will take a pleasant stroll to and along the waterfront, passing the site of the city’s first million dollar hotel (Soreno Hotel). Learn who was behind the efforts to make St. Petersburg’s waterfront the incredible park setting we find today and how the decision was made to have a green rather than commercial waterfront. Hear about some of the great promotional stories of St. Pete including the bathing beauties and the sunshine babies. Leaving the waterfront, the tour heads into the historic old northeast neighborhood where you will have a chance to see and learn about the various architectural styles gracing one of St. Pete’s first neighborhoods. One of the beautifully restored homes will be open for our tour visit. The tour ends at the waterfront icon, Renaissance Vinoy Hotel, where choices abound. You can decide to relax on the Vinoy verandah and have a drink or perhaps decide to hop the Looper trolley back downtown to have lunch at the Saturday Morning Market.
