Magic trade for Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibake in the NBA draft

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Don’t think of it as a draft pick.

Think of it as the Orlando Magic starting to reshape its roster for coach Frank Vogel.

The Magic traded for Serge Ibaka, a forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, as the first step for Vogel’s new team. Orlando traded Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the rights to No. 1 pick Domantas Sabonis. Sabonis is the son of Hall of Famer Arvydas Sabonis.

He came at a price, but Ibaka could have an impact for the Magic. He scored 12.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. He shot 47.9 percent from the field overall and knocked down 32.6 percent from behind the three-point line. He is considered a solid defender.

It will be interesting to see what the Magic does in free agency in their roster reshuffling. They have been mentioned in the scramble for Al Horford of Atlanta.
