A deputy director for the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections is winning the fundraising race for the District 1 at-large seat on the Pinellas County School Board.
Matt Stewart, who is also an adjunct at St. Petersburg College, has raised $9,754 in cash and in-kind contributions as of April 30, when the books closed on the latest campaign reports. His nearest competitor, Joanne Lentino, a retired teacher, reported raising $6,074 in cash and in-kind donations.
Former St. Petersburg City Council member Bill Dudley was close behind Lentino, according to records in the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Office. Dudley has raised $5,050. Trailing the field is Alex Powers, a teacher at Pinellas Park High School. Powers reported that he has $50 in his campaign war chest, money he loaned to his campaign.
District 1 is one of three at-large districts on the seven-member School Board. Voters from across Pinellas can vote in the race.
The seat is currently held by Janet Clark who is in her third term of office. She has not filed to run, but has said in the past that she intends to do so.
