From Preston Rudie: Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele visited Tampa Thursday for the first time since the city was selected to host the 2012 Republican National Convention. He said the 2012 event will be billed as “the people’s convention” and will feature a convention village while relying heavily on local businesses.
“We have a commitment to use and elevate and to support local grown, home grown talent,” Steele said.
Steele also told a group of reporters and others who worked to secure the convention that a small group of RNC staffers would be moving to Tampa in the near future to begin planning for the event. Continue reading here.
