Steve Yzerman to be named Lightning GM

Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman will be named general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning at a 3 p.m. ET news conference Tuesday, two sources told ESPN.com. Yzerman leaves the Detroit Red Wings, the only NHL team he’s ever been with, both as the superstar captain and more recently as vice president. The Lightning have been courting Yzerman heavily for at least two weeks, one source said. Yzerman replaces Brian Lawton, who was fired last month.
