in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Mayor Bill Foster announced on Friday a set of proposed parking changes designed to be more customer-friendly and make downtown parking easier while being fiscally responsible during extremely tight city budget conditions. Changes are planned to take place on June 1, 2010. In a memo to Council, Mayor Foster outlined the following changes: (1) Reduce the number of hours for metered parking from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for all meters. Update: Marco Rubio is no longer listed on the website as one of the speakers.  And now the event’s location has changed from the Sun Dome to Chillura Park. Did Rick Baker, Deveron Gibbons square off at Charlie Crist’s event on Saturday?

in Statewide/The Bay and the 'Burg by

Ernest Hooper is wrong

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

In case you missed it, St. Petersburg Times columnist Ernest Hooper wrote this morning: My friend says Tampa’s declining crime rate will go up a tick if the city “steals” the Rays from St. Petersburg, but is it stealing if St. Pete wouldn’t be upset about the move? Sure, Mayor Bill Foster won’t concede the team without a fight, but the general populace seems more interested in fixing the Pier and completing construction of the new Salvador Dali museum. Let…

With 45 days to the deadline to turn in 112,000 signatures, Kendrick Meek’s Campaign still struggling to collect required number of petitions

in Peter/Statewide by

During the last month, I’ve written extensively about how Kendrick Meek’s sisyphean signature-gathering effort is further behind than the campaign wants to admit. With 45 days left before the March 29 deadline to turn in 112,476 verified signatures, it’s time to update again the status of Meek’s signature-gathering effort. That’s why I am introducing the Will Meek Make It? Meter to track the progress of Meek’s effort to put his name on the ballot via the petition process. As of…
