Nina Hayden’s chances of beating Jack Latvala

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

549-to-1.  Odds of the Bucs winning the Super Bowl this year?  Nah, the Bucs aren’t that bad.  549-to-1 represents the cash-on-hand difference between Republican Jack Latvala and his Democratic opponent Nina Hayden.  After raising $504,259 and spending just over $85,723.82, Latvala still has $418,534 left in the bank.  Hayden has raised $8,490 and spent $7,728, leaving her with just $762 in the bank.  In fact, Latvala has received more in in-kind contributions ($12,683) than Hayden has raised in total contributions.…

Senate not-so-hopeful Nina Hayden raises just $300 for campaign against Jack Latvala

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

At some point, a candidate and their supporters have to be realistic about their campaign’s viablity, much less their ability to win an election.  And I believe that’s the point at which Nina Hayden finds herself today, now that she has reported raising just $300 for her state Senate campaign against Jack Latvala, who has raised more than $504,000.  At this point, Hayden has less than $800 left on hand.

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

The campaign finance reports aren’t in yet, but Pinellas school board candidate Terry Krassner tells supporters in her latest campaign note that she has already raised $15,000 from more than 100 individual contributors. That’s a lot of money in a short amount of time, and a sign of a well-connected, well-oiled machine. Krassner, a retired principal and daughter of former board member Lee Benjamin, is running for the at-large, District 2 seat being vacated by Nina Hayden. At this point, there is one…

Live updates from tonight’s Jack Latvala vs. Nina Hayden debate. By the way, who schedules a debate on St. Patty’s?

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

In what is one of the worst cases of scheduling, a debate between state Senate candidates Jack Latvala and Nina Hayden will take place tonight at 10:30 p.m. on the campus of Clearwater Christian College. The scheduling decision begs a few questions: WHO THE HELL SCHEDULES A DEBATE FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY? WHO THE HELL SCHEDULES A DEBATE FOR 10:30 PM? WHO THE HELL SCHEDULES A DEBATE FOR 10:30 PM ON ST. PATRRICK’S DAY? But I will sacrifice and cover…
