The Polk County Republican Executive Committee loves the lieutenant governor in the U.S. Senate race. Late Monday the Polk REC announced Carlos Lopez-Cantera won its straw poll in a landslide, winning 74 percent of the votes cast. U.S. Rep. RPOF adopts new ballot rule for Presidential Primary

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) on Friday approved a plan for candidates running in the state’s presidential preference primary that doesn’t require them to pay homage to the party faithful. The state’s GOP executive committee voted 35-1 to adopt a rule that gives candidates options to get on the ballot, instead of making them show up to November’s Sunshine Summit in Orlando. Pam Bondi won another straw poll in the race for attorney general. The Florida Federation of Young Republicans conducted this most recent poll, which was closely contested, with Pam Bondi winning with 35 votes while Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp received 34 votes.
