Someone’s playing a dirty (online) trick on Angela Rouson

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Being somewhat familiar with the fine art of political trickery, I have to tip my hat to whoever purchased the domain name www.angelarouson.com. Click on the link and you will be forwarded to an unflattering St. Petersburg Times article about Angela’s husband, Darryl. Cursory research hasn’t turned up anything on who’s behind this latest bit of shenanigans.

Kentucky Fried Congemi missing from Buzz

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

It is the kind of surreal story that makes Twitter accounts, well um, twitter: Mayoral hopeful cited for trespassing at a Kentucky Fried Chicken. That was the breaking news on the Bay Buzz this afternoon. And, honestly, it was nice for them to have a story that included the word “police” that did not involve me. Evidently, longshot candidate Paul Congemi was charged with trespassing after getting into a (possibly racist) shouting match with employees of the Colonel. St. Pete…

Is this Tiger Bay announcement just a little too over the top, even for its standards?

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Yesterday, I received this reminder of Tiger Bay’s program on May 28, when St. Petersburg Police Chief Chuck Harmon steps into the Tiger’s Den: The City of St. Petersburg has plenty of the former these days, but what of the latter? Military-style assault weapons freely accessible by common criminals, open season on convenience store owners, young children in their homes losing their innocent lives, drug and prostitution deals happening openly on the streets. Smoking gun proves Jamie Bennett knew about the political strategy of Ticketgate

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

The plan was to use the tickets to curry favor with neighborhood leaders and canvass their neighborhoods just before the association’s monthly meeting in hopes of generating a positive buzz, Schorsch said. Bennett said there was no such “ticket strategy.”…

Poor Jamie Bennett

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

I don’t blame Jamie Bennett. I really don’t. Like I’ve said before, I bring out the best and the worst of people. From Jamie Bennett, I extracted a sense of energy and purpose he did not have before. He was a second-tier candidate before Barry and I got a hold of him and that’s where he will end up now that he doesn’t have us. You’re not a fool if you contribute to him, nor are you a fool if…

Jamie Bennett still in denial

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Jamie Bennett still contends that there was no strategy behind the distribution of his allotment of the tickets to the city’s suite at Tropicana Field, however, as reported today: “After Bennett announced his candidacy for mayor, he began giving his tickets to supporters and community leaders across and even outside the city, according to a St. Petersburg Times review. Bennett gave two of his campaign’s earliest supporters, arts leader Bob Devin Jones and St. Pete Beach Mayor Michael Finnerty, several…
