Hotline: How much will move cost Charlie Crist?

in Statewide by

From Hotline: FL Gov. Charlie Crist (R) is contemplating his political future this week as he decides whether to run for Sen. George LeMieux‘s (R) seat as an independent. But he also should be contemplating just how much it’s going to cost him. Crist has benefitted from several strong fundraising quarters, but conservative bloggers and activists have vowed to make a potential independent bid hurt his bank account. And he should take note: Those same activists helped cost Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) more…

Charlie Justice’s campaign posts lackluster number for 4Q fundraising, spends more than it raises; Bill Young raises just $750!

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

For those looking to the latest fundraising reports for clues as to whether Congressman Bill Young will retire or not, keep looking. According to the Year-End reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, the soon-to-be octogenarian raised just $750 during the last period which covers contributions received between October 1 and December 31. Meanwhile, Young’s so-called re-election campaign spent more than $22,000, including almost $800 a month on a “campaign vehicle.” Of course, Young has $395,879 in cash-on-hand from money…

Scott Wagman takes the bait, will fight FEC over his illegal Google ads

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Just finished up an interview with Zach Rodgers, of Clickz Network, who tells me Scott Wagman has decided to contest the complaint filed with Florida Election Commission over his illegal ads on Google and Facebook. From March on Politics: In response to a complaint from the former campaign manager for one of Wagman’s opponents in the race, the Elections Commission is considering whether the ads were illegal because they don’t contain the required disclaimer stating they were approved by the…

Sarah Palin: all tail, no head

in Uncategorized by

From 538.com: Sarah Palin’s political action committee — SarahPAC — raised $733,000 in the first half of the year and is set to push past $1 million in the wake of the recent attention she’s gotten herself. On the one hand, this isn’t that impressive. Mitt Romney, for instance, has raised twice as much. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Palin’s sometime rival who is now running for governor in Texas, raised nine times as much. For somebody with a political celebrity dwarfed…

Another day, another story about Scott Wagman violating some campaign rule

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Yesterday, I received a letter from the Florida Elections Commission stating that the FEC believe my complaints against Scott Wagman for putting up these kind of Google ads: are legally sufficient and have offerred Wagman’s campaign the opportunity to agree to a consent order, pay the fine and fix the ads or appeal the decision (FEC 09-160). This is just the latest example of Mr. Houghton-Wagman’s disregard for the norms of electioneering. Just yesterday, Wagman’s campaign was caught placing signs…
